Ashton Gatehouse

One gateway, two worlds

Gatehouse

Welcome

Welcome to Ashton Gatehouse, the original entrance to Ashton Court Estate. Once the gateway to the Smyth family home, this Gatehouse is now open for all to enjoy.
Built in c.1805 and designed by Henry Wood in the regency gothic style, it is a delightful gem, waiting to be discovered.

Venue hire

Ashton Gatehouse is now available to hire. The venue is available for meetings, training and more.

Visit

Ashton Gatehouse is now open! The Gatehouse is being used by local schools and communities. We are also open to the public by arrangment.

Get Involved

Can you help the project team create a lasting legacy for South Bristol in 2016 and beyond?

We are looking for people to help support the building once it is open. For more information about the roles and an informal chat contact our Community Projects Officer at info@ashtongatehouse.org.uk

UWE Photography project

We've been very lucky to be funded by UWE Bristol community seed fund to run the Gatehouse Photography project. The funding has allowed us to develop a partnership with UWE students at Bower Ashton Campus based around community history and photography. Exhibition now on at Bedminster Library!

Gatehouse Objects

During the renovation of Ashton gatehouse, many objects were found that have links to Bristol and can provide an educational link to the history of the city.
